Just a reminder that this Wednesday night, we will open our gates at 5 p.m. to begin serving Thanksgiving meals to those in our community in need. Our Thanksgiving service will follow at 7 p.m. We will have a wonderful time of praise and worship and of giving thanks to God! Please plan to serve and to attend and invite someone to come with you!
Just a reminder, we will be receiving our “THANKSGIVING OFFERING” on Sunday November 27th. This year, our project is to build a new food pantry shed in our church yard. The total cost is $5,000. Please pray about giving to this needy project. Use a Thanksgiving offering envelope or mark your envelope to say “Thanksgiving offering.”
George Washington, our first president, declared a day of thanksgiving be given to God in 1789. He stated, “Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly implore His protection and favor… Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the twenty-sixth day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these United Sates… that we then may all unite unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies…for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed.. for the civil and religious liberty with which we are now blessed.” May we each reflect on the many blessings we have and give thanks this week!
Have a great week, and we will plan to see you at our Thanksgiving service this Wednesday!
